Since we wanted to make our audience feel right at home and create this warm and cozy feeling, we decided to reuse fabrics from back home to make a large quilt. The first thing we usually think of when we hear the word “cozy” is a quilt since it’s traditionally something grandmothers make for their children and grandchildren. We manipulated the fabric patches in several ways, such as embroidering, cutting and stitching, painting, and adding new materials to the existing piece. While creating these patches, our main goal was to include something we hold dear or memories we think of fondly.
We then attached all of these together with no real arrangement. The idea was to mix all of our memories together to create a “mosaic” which is our quilt.
