In this series of self-portraits labeled Uninvited Solitude, I dive deeper into the concept of solitude. It was something I used to long for, I was always searching for it throughout high school. I thought that once I got to college, I’d finally get it. I was wrong. It wasn’t nearly as good as I expected it to be. Growing up, I was always told to put myself first. I was always told that I was the only one I’ll have with me until the end and that friendships and relationships would come and go but I never paid attention to it. That was until I moved out. I realized what my parents were saying was true. I am the only one who will be here forever. I am the only one that can keep me happy, the only one that will be here for me, no one else will be able to know me as well as I know myself. This is something I wanted to explore further within this series.
